Ugandan-born DJ, producer, label owner, and educator Jenifa Mayanja brings raw artistry, excellence, and pure love to everything she touches. Deeply rooted in underground deep house since the early 90s, she built her name in New York the old-fashioned way, earning a revered reputation as an innovative and fearless musical ambassador for house music culture and for women in the business.
Her DJ ethos centers on reverence and preservation of the culture, not mass exposure. That commitment has taken her to iconic venues and events including Panorama Bar, Fabric London, Boiler Room, and Freerotation, and earned her a residency at Public Records NYC with her series "Back to the Deep."
As founder of Bumako Recordings (2007) and co-founder of Sound Warrior Records, she introduced her signature naturalistic deep house sound to the world and championed women producers along the way. Her production work spans her own vinyl and digital releases alongside remixes and collaborations for artists including Seb Wildblood, CC Disco, and Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange.
Now she channels that depth of experience into her mentoring and coaching program, The Music Life Mentor, working with music creatives at all levels to break through the mental and practical roadblocks standing between them and success.
